Dear friends!


We are pleased to announce that the International Summer School of
Photography 2008 (ISSP) shall for the third time take place in Ludza,
Latvia from August 2 to 10, 2008. The goals of the ISSP are to educate
young photographers, expanding and deepening their perception of the
genre. The ISSP and follow-up activities are seen as important
contribution to building a platform for creative dialogue among the young
photographers in Latvia and internationally.

50 students from Latvia and foreign countries will work under a guidance
of 5 professional photographers and teachers from Germany, Greece,
Hungary, Spain, and Latvia to broaden the perception of the art of
photography and produce an open exhibition in the end of the workshops. We
invite all interested people fulfilling the general requirements to send
in their applications till 12 June, 2008. The results of the selection
process will be communicated by the end of June.



About the Barbara Klemm Scholarship:

A scholarship has been created by Barbara Klemm to support young and
talanted photographers from Belarus to participate in ISSP 2008. Barbara
Klemm’s scholarship will cover:
- participation fee 200EUR
- travel cost (by bus Minsk – Daugavpils – Minsk, Daugavpils – Ludza –
Daugavpils)
- health insurance
- visa

Barbara Klemm is one the most prominent chroniclers of recent German
history. Since the 1960s she has been covering politics and society in
both Germanies as a staff photographer attached to the main editorial desk of the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”. Entitled “Our Years – Pictures
from Germany 1968-1998” these works went on show first in the Berlin
Museum of History in 1999 and then, a year later, among others in the
Schirn gallery in Frankfurt.
