Так вот, вспоминают раннюю историю LightRoom (почти в духе Андрея Герасимчука, который уверен, что орлы из Adobe не дадут ему написать книгу об истории его участия в разарботках основных продуктов компании): …In December of 2002, Mark, UI designer Sandy Alves, project lead Andrei Herasimchuk and Thomas Knoll visited my studio for a couple of days of brainstorming product ideas directed towards photographers. During that meeting I expressed the importance of developing an application to deal with lots of images easily and efficiently instead of an application used for spending a great deal of time on a single image-in the 1990’s it was all about how long an imaging artist spent working on an image, the new millenium dictated an application designed to spend as little time as possible working on many images. …The early development of Shadowland was a bit rocky-to say the least. Adobe just didn’t know how or where to position Shadowland in the ecosphere that is known as Photoshop. A great deal of time was spent researching to determine exactly what Photographers needed and wanted. Mark, Sandy, Andrei and researcher Grace Kim made a lot of site visits to photography studios all over the country. There they interviewed a wide variety of photographers-some famous and some just regular hard working folks-from all walks of photography. The aim was to identify where the current pain points were with digital and to design innovative solutions to relieve the pain… http://photoshopnews.com/2006/01/09/the ... ent-story/ Как оно дальше пойдет — не очень ясно. Это я про выставку Christian Noirfalise Galerie van der Mieden B. Antwerpen, 14 Mar–26 Apr 2008 Gustave, landscape, 120x175 cm, lamdaprint framed Christian Noirfalise (°1979, Laken, België), who majored in painting, creates portraits, landscapes and still lifes, classical themes which constantly reappear. However, his work is anything but classical: he doesn't work on canvas but uses a camera and Photoshop. Christian doesn't hide the fact he works with Photoshop because his work isn't about creating the perfect photograph. He uses pieces of photographs as strokes of paint as it were. With a painter's eye, he applies light and shadow, various tints and certain proportions to create a balanced work. His early work consists of a series of portraits which are simultaneously landscapes. Imaginary landscapes based on conversations with the subjects, and created with pictures he took which he preserves in an extensive archive. In more recent work, present and past merge and pieces of landscape, moments in time and places form a mosaic.

Peter Engblom Seven years ago he created a CD-ROM about Zulu Land and the Zulu people entitled "A Land called Heaven" which is available from www.cdromshop.com. This led him to his present project entitled "ZuluSushi" that is inspired by the first Zulu Guru. …He has created the concept and history of Mpunzi Shezi, the first Zulu missionary to the Japanese — he took Ubuntu to the Buddhists and brought Zen back to the Zulus. …Peter Engblom has been seen with a strange contraption that he believes has the ability to photograph ghosts in 3D. ZuluSushi by Peter Engblom ZuluSushi is a brash and bizarre photo novel, which is full of fantasy, erotic and surreal situations and compositions. Style elements and subjects of the beginning of the 20th century and contemporary ideas are melting together with visuals of a multicultural origin. The viewer can’t decide anymore what is real and what is fiction in the end. Engblom is creating new images by using visual finds, generated from different sources, which he alters, revises and then mixes with own photos. …Peter Engblom combines in his work old and new techniques. Еще с http://www.luminous-lint.com/ Auction Preview Be-Hold 51 Part 2 (March 13, 2008) This is a great selection of photographs on paper, the strongest such collection we’ve ever offered. While the top lot is “only” $10,000 (a mere trifle in today’s market) and most of the lots start well below this, they are all selected (from a much larger body of material we have reviewed) to be of interest to serious collectors. They range from fascinating 19th-century material (for example an important albumen print of Lincoln’s second inaugural, unique early Belgian salt prints, mammoth plates by Watkins and Hillers) to interesting and sometimes rarely offered 20th century photographs, including a wonderful group of 1970’s and 1980’s photographs in color, and good prints by many of the great photographers including Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Harry Callahan, Dorothea Lange, Kertesz, Rodchenko and many others, including interesting surprises. Yuval Yairi Memory Suitcase #4 [Palaces of Memory] 2006 Автор уже здесь встречался… Yuval Yairi The Exploration of Memory Yairi photographs the leper house with a digital video camera in still mode, constructing the image from thousands of frames. The pictures are taken in the course of several hours, during which the artist slowly and accurately documents every detail in the space from a single position, like the viewer's observation movement upon entering the space. He selects details which he then combines into a final unified photographic image containing a wealth of information, one that no single still photograph can contain. Thus, in fact, Yairi overcomes the temporal and spatial limitations of conventional photography. Yairi's technique is reminiscent of a fine, intricate mosaic. The repeated shooting, the meticulous observation, the accumulation and layering of small fragments – all these generate an image that contains a deployment of continuous time. The gathering and reassembly of the pieces enable him to oscillate between a faithful documentation of reality and its re-shaping while constructing additional strata of detail and time. The resulting effect is at once realistic and surreal or symbolic. On the one hand, the picture is broad, slow and restrained, and on the other, it is implied, and fraught with dramatic tension that stems from the mosaic assembly, an act that is at times scrupulous and imperceptible, at others, distinctly visible. Yuval Yairi: Palaces of Memory Dror Burstein The Cage and the Bird "A cage went in search of a bird" wrote Kafka 1: a photographic structure went out into the world in search of motifs that would suit it. The result is the heart of this exhibition… Yuval Yairi Southeast Room [Forevermore] 2004

Scenery & Still Life LIANG Weizhou m97 Gallery RC. Shanghai, 29 Mar-08 May 2008 Liang Weizhou "Boat" (2005-06), Archival pigment print on fine art paper Liang Weizhou "Light" (2002-04), Archival pigment print on fine art paper. Liang Weizhou "Toilette" (2002-06),, Archival pigment print on fine art paper. The Shanghainese painter, most well known over the past fifteen years for his expressionist paintings, has been gaining critical acclaim and exposure for his new body of photography-based works. …As evident in several of his earlier paintings from the 1990's, Liang Weizhou has regularly explored the visual and conceptual relationship between painting and photography. Occasionally going so far as painting self-portraits with a camera and tripod on his canvas, it is clear the medium of photography and the contemplation of its ability to capture the myriad details before the artist's eyes has always been present in Liang Weizhou's conceptualization and realization of his artwork. After continued exploration and experimentation of the photographic image and process, Liang Weizhou has now clearly discovered his own visual language of interweaving his painting aesthetics with the continuing theme and subject matter of the often isolated and existential ordinary and intimate still life interiors. Furthering in a long tradition of artists exploring the possibilities found between painting and photography, Liang Weizhou's photographic works can be seen as a direct evolution from his earlier roots in painting. Now empowering traditional photography with various techniques of photo montage, subjective coloring, painting and digital retouching, the photographs of Liang Weizhou offer the viewer an abstract and dreamlike aesthetic that can often only be found in painting itself. http://photography-now.com/popup_ausst_ ... gen=T59933 |

Augmented Realities 1997-2008 Michael Najjar Fotomuseum Den Haag NL. Den Haag, 05 Apr-26 Jun 2008 Снова с думой о будущем: laokoon, 198 x 178 cm, framed, edition 6 German artist Michael Najjar is fascinated by scenarios for the future of mankind. In his large-format photographs and video works, he creates a simultaneously exciting and disturbing picture of human beings as artificial, technological beings. In his latest series, bionic angel (2006-2008), now to be shown at the Hague Museum of Photography for the first time in its entirety, Najjar goes a step further: based on ideals of beauty derived from Ancient Greece and the Italian Renaissance, the artist has constructed a new image of mankind that is refined and ethereal, transcending everyday reality. http://photography-now.com/popup_ausst_ ... gen=T59917 Поупражняться: http://www.michaelnajjar.com/ nexus bitforms gallery web site — Michael Najjar (Здесь…) Еще: http://www.artnet.com/artist/423841926/ ... ajjar.html Совсем другое: truth in crisis? about the influence of digital technologies on documentary photography The Cuban painter Vicente Bonachea once said to me: the only thing Cubans take seriously is the absurd. …how to get the Cuban reality into a picture? How to document the absurd? These questions lead to some elementary reflections about documentary photography: the idea of a photo being a genuine image of reality has in fact existed since the beginning of photography. Documentary photography in particular has an aura of truth which is the result of its general image: that's how it was! Until today, the myth of objective photographic presentation suppressed any subjective aspect of photography. Our visual perception is based on the fact that we believe what we see, especially when it comes to documentary photography. With the advent of new technologies, especially the digital processing of photos, our visual perception is getting mixed up. Finally. Already the public has been confronted with digital technology to quite a high degree which has confused our understanding of perception. The digital (r)evolution procedes quite fast. This arouses an oppressive feeling of insecurity for those who take the pictures as well as for those who look at them. There is a lack of experience and also of binding judgement criterions in handling the digital picture world. The natural trust is going to disappear. As a matter of fact, documentary pictures are no longer real or true. The decisive element of a documentary photo is not the authenticity of the moment, but the symbol of the message. Digital techniques help by advancing a new understanding of photography as such. The digital change of a picture adds a new level of perception to it that did not exist in the analog picture. This raises the question, particularly with documentary photography: is a photo which has been changed digitally less true or even fake? From my point of view it is not, in fact the contrary is the case…

"The photographs suggest the activity of their creation." Chiara. John Chiara (b. 1971) received a B.F.A. in Photography from University of Utah in 1994, an M.F.A. in Photography from California College of the Arts in 2004, and was recently an artist in residence at Crown Point Press (2006). На сайте автора можно посмотреть на телевизионную документацию процесса: http://www.lightdark.com/ Chiara photographs cityscapes in a process that is part photography, part event and part sculpture – an undertaking in apparatus and patience. Many times this process involves composing pictures from the inside of a large hand-built camera, that is mounted on a flatbed trailer, and produces large scale, one of a kind, positive exposures. Chiara is a native Californian who lives and works in San Francisco. Jörg Colberg: A Conversation with Jerry Spagnoli 10 марта… Jörg Colberg: There probably is only a small number of photographers who have produced such a diverse range of work as you. Your works ranges from Daguerreotypes and more traditional b/w work to extreme and abstract enlargements of negatives and wide-angle colour photographs that use a large amount of digital post-processing. Can you talk a little bit about how this all evolved? How does one jump from mercury vapours on metal plates to pigment prints based on images in a computer — mirroring the evolution of photography itself? Вот эти «extreme and abstract enlargements of negatives» — это работа с микроскопом для увеличения фрагмента негатива.
