Introducing a new Hasselblad Masters Awards

The Hasselblad Masters Award is the most prestigious awards in the industry, each year celebrating the best in both established and rising photographic talent. Masters Awards are given in recognition of a photographer’s contribution to the art of photography and are judged on overall photographic ability, encompassing creativity, composition, conceptual strength, and technical skill. Past Masters include both renowned artists of international standing as well as promising newcomers in a wide range of fields and disciplines

In the past, Hasselblad has awarded twelve separate Masters Awards each year, with an annual calendar presented featuring the winners’ work. In the past, submissions have been accepted only from Hasselblad users and no other photography was considered. As the world of photography has changed, so has Hasselblad as well, and so shall the Hasselblad Masters Awards.

New rules, new prizes

Again this year, we are opening the 2009 contest to all established professional photographers using large and medium format cameras, regardless of brand. We will award 9 Hasselblad Masters designations, accepting submissions in Fine Art, Nature/Landscape, Social/Wedding, Portrait, Fashion, Editorial, Product, Architecture, and General Photography categories. We have even established a special category for up and coming photographers that is open to all professional photographers, regardless of length of time in the business or camera format used.

All shooting done in conjunction with the Hasselblad Masters program or its activities shall be done using entirely Hasselblad gear. To this end, winners of the 2009 Masters Awards will receive an equipment sponsorship agreement with Hasselblad wherein they will receive the use of an H3D digital camera system for the creation of images for a special Masters Commemorative book to be published. This book will allow the ten winning photographers to freely interpret a theme or themes in whatever creative manner they see fit, celebrating the range and versatility of both Hasselblad cameras and Hasselblad photographers.

Click below to enter for your chance to win the coveted title of Hasselblad Masters for 2009. The closing date for submissions is January 1st 2009.

Masters 2009

The Masters award is open to all photographers who have been active professionals for more than three years. To be eligible, the submitted photos must be shot using some form of medium or large format system. No 35mm photography will be accepted. Submissions must be made digitally, regardless of capture form.

"Up-and-Coming" 2009

ALL MY LOVIN - A call for Artists!

The relationships we engage in throughout our lives beginning with our Families provide a lot of the raw materials for how our characters form throughout our lives. These are some of the most challenging interactions we will engage in and the source of some of our greatest gifts, happinesses and likewise unhappinesses and burdens.

Lodz Fotofestiwal Poland, Sirius Arts Centre Ireland, Kunstlerhaus Bethanien Berlin are searching for interpretations on the theme of relationships, family in all their multiple and varied forms that exist in the 21st century. Humour, passion, struggle, history and compromise are all subjects we'd like to see considered in these photographic and multimedia submissions. We're looking for new interpretations and fresh ideas concerning this subject. So enlighten us!

Submissions will be juried by the Directors of these institutions and be curated into an exhibition, to be premiered initially at Lodz Fotofestiwal in May 2010. The exhibition will then tour to the other partner organizations following the initial premiere - a publication will accompany the exhibition.

Deadline for submissions is 28 February 2009, see attached for submission details and address for delivery. Works will be juried in March 2009 in Berlin and announcements will be made in April 2009 to those accepted.

For more information see the attachment with APPLICATION FORM:
http://fotofestiwal.com/2008/index.php?lang=en

We are waiting for your works!

Lodz Fotofestiwal - Poland,
Sirius Arts Centre - Ireland,
Kunstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin - Germany
